AT SCHOOL HEALTH
- Greene County Tech Primary
Greene County Tech School District provides a school nurse for each of its school buildings. The Primary School is fortunate to have the services of a full-time R.N., Brandy Wells, and a full-time L.P.N., Paula Mikel, who are on call daily. Together, these nurses are responsible for the health needs of 600 students from preschool through first grade. The nurses collaborate with the building’s social worker, parent center coordinator, and counselors to provide for the needs of our students.
A partial list of the nurses’ duties is as follows:
- Observation, care and counseling of the ill and/or injured
- Maintenance of health or prevention of illness of others
- Supervision and teaching of other personnel
- Hearing/Vision screenings and referral
- BMI (Body Mass Index)
- Check all immunizations
- Administration of medications and treatments as prescribed
- Individual Healthcare Plans for students on medications and /or treatments
- Head lice prevention
- Collect and maintain permanent student health records
