SNOW DAY MAKEUP INFORMATION:
The Arkansas Department of Education issued a waiver that allows school districts to change their calendar from traditional to alternate. Traditional calendars calculate days, while the alternate calendar calculates minutes/hours. Districts are allowed to "bank" instructional time and substitute that time for inclement weather days. GCT took advantage of the waiver and was able to substitute two of the three days we missed for snow. This means we only need to make up one day. We will make up this day on February 19th.
February is American Heart Month, and on Friday, Greene County Tech Intermediate will wear red in recognition of National Wear Red Day to promote awareness for heart disease. We will wear red in honor of Maeve Garner, daughter of GCT Intermediate employee Mickie Garner, and all of our students, staff, and Eagle family who have been impacted by heart disease. Please join us in raising awareness for this critical health issue #WearRed #HeartWarriors

GCT is open and running normal bus routes today, 1-22-2024.
GCT is planning on being open and running normal bus routes on Monday, 1-22-2024. There is a slight risk of inclement weather Monday morning and a potential for dangerous travel conditions. We are watching the weather and will make a decision in the morning based on road conditions and the forecast. As always, safety is a priority and we thank you for your patience and support.
GCT parents and guardians: We have updated the modified bus routes for this afternoon and highlighted the drop off times. See attachment.
GCT Intermediate will promote Kindness Week January 22-26 and raise funds for Special Olympics at the same time. Activities for each day are found on the attached picture.
GCT will be open Friday, 1-19-2024 and will use some modified bus routes (see below). Although our campuses are clear and our modified bus stops are clear, we realize that some side roads and county roads still have snow and ice. We urge you to use your best judgment when deciding whether or not to travel to a bus stop or to allow a student to drive. If you believe it is not safe to travel, please stay home and simply call your principal’s office to let them know. Thank you to all patrons for your support and patience. #staygoldeneagles

The Greene County Spelling Bee has been postponed to January 29 at 7 p.m. at The Collins Theater.
Shh....Don't tell the kids, but look at this awesome new floor in our gym waiting for them to return to school! Thanks to our school board, administration and Mr. Donnie for this much needed upgrade to give our kids a fun and safe place for PE and other activities. We can't wait to see how excited they will be to play and learn here!
Greene County Tech School District will be closed Monday, January 15th in observance of MLK Day.

Important Information for bus riders for Friday, January 12: Due to flooding on some roads and streets, it may not be safe for a bus to travel on them. If your child does not get picked up, please call their building principal to let them know.

The Penguin Patch is taking place this week in the cafeteria at GCT Intermediate.
Co-teachers Angie Greenway and Christa Hudson are participating in the Boundless Learning Program through John Hopkins Learning. They were visited recently by their state coaches and presented a lesson in literacy. By participating in this program, Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Greenway will be able to train other teachers in the co-teaching model of inclusive education.
Greene County Tech was notified that gunshots were reported west of the main campus. We were in a soft lockdown where we did not allow anyone out or in the building on main campus only. Within ten minutes we were given an all clear. The campus was never in any danger.
